PROPPER INTERNATIONAL STATEMENT REGARDING THE COMMERCIAL ABU
In response to the many positive inquiries about the commercial version of the ABU by the men and women of our Armed Forces, Propper is providing the following clarification:
Propper International is the only manufacturer to have been granted permission by the creator and copyright holder of the Air Force Digital Tiger Stripe pattern to produce and sell a commercial version of the U.S. Air Force Airman Battle Uniform (ABU).
The construction and materials used in the manufacturing of the MILSPEC commercial ABU in 50/50 NYCO meet the same military specifications as the uniforms being issued by the U.S. Air Force, including Near Infrared (NIR) technology, and the application of a permanent press finish.
The 100% Cotton Ripstop version of the ABU is designed for personnel requiring a 100% cotton garment for their application, such as electricians, welders, or firefighters. While the garment is still NIR-compliant, it does not include a permanent press finish on the fabric.
The commercial version of the ABU is assembled at Propper International manufacturing facilities in the Dominican Republic, a GSA-approved country.
